In the wake of the trade union action #67jepreviše aimed at, among other things, maintaining the retirement age of 65 through the national referendum in Croatia, ETUCE expressed its robust solidarity with its member organisations in Croatia.

Trade unions in Croatia are currently collecting citizens’ signatures to call for a referendum to change the pension system.

Wishing successful outcomes of the Croatian trade unions' action Susan Flocken, ETUCE European Director stated, “ This action is in line with the ongoing ETUCE campaign “Shape the Future of Europe with Teachers”. In the framework of the campaign we emphasise that [...] “high workload and work-related stress coupled with the lack of professional autonomy and support in addition to unattractive and precarious working conditions, salaries and pensions have led in many countries in Europe to a severe shortage of teachers” [...]”.
