2nd Case Study
Between 26 and 28 September 2018, the second case study within the project “European Sectoral Social Partners in Education promoting effective integration of migrants and refugees in education” took place in Serbia, organised with the support of the ETUCE member organisation and partner to the project, TUS. The study delegation, including ETUCE and EFEE representatives, the research expert accompanying the project, two video-makers, and representatives from the project advisory group - from Slovenia (SVIZ-ESTUS) and Ireland (ETBI) - had the opportunity to learn more about good practices and challenges in the Serbian education system with regards to policies on inclusion and integration. The delegation visited multiple educational institutions and asylum centres and, during the three days, discussed with representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders as well as with migrant and refugee children, their parents, and teachers. Concluding the visit, the social partners at national and European level agreed on the importance of continuous social dialogue on this important topic, stressing the importance of an effective European cooperation and sharing of good practices.
