#WelcomingEurope – Advocating for the right to help
In the frame of the ongoing discussions on border controls and, in particular, this weekend’s EU Summit on migration, the first European Citizens’ Initiative - #WelcomingEurope collects signatures to reclaim the right to help. On 20 June 2018, the Hungary’s Parliament passed a series of laws that criminalise individuals and non-governmental organisations that offer help to migrants in need. While millions across Europe have donated their time and money as part of the #RefugeesWelcome movement, volunteers and non-governmental organisations in Hungary will now face detention for doing the same humanitarian acts.
