Building link leadership to support teachers in Hungary

The interview with the Pedagógusok Szakszervezete (PSZ) focuses on the importance of developing leadership that is close to teachers’ everyday professional realities. The case study highlights how local and workplace-level leadership plays a key role in supporting teachers and maintaining union cohesion.

While leadership roles are often informal, they are reinforced through training, peer support, and ongoing communication. The interview shows that empowering teachers to take on leadership responsibilities at school level strengthens both participation and resilience within the union.

This approach reflects a broader understanding of union renewal as a long-term process rooted in trust, shared responsibility, and collective engagement.
