Education trade unions are preparing to demonstrate for a more attractive teaching profession

ETUCE member organisations from across Europe are gathering a strong delegation of European education trade unions to participate in the European demonstration in Brussels on 12 December 2023.  ETUCE is ready to make a powerful statement on a challenge that affects education systems across Europe: the shortage of teachers due to the lack of attractiveness affecting the entire teaching profession. In this demonstration, ETUCE will raise awareness on the ten key demands of its campaign #MakeTeachingAttractive!

The European demonstration is organised by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) together with the Belgian confederations and is part of ETUC's mobilisation "For a Fair Deal for Workers". This protest brings together representatives from different industry sectors in resistance to austerity and in favour of decent working conditions.

All ETUCE member organisations are welcome to take part in this important action for the European trade union movement. ETUCE will send a clear message — #MakeTeachingAttractive— by connecting with unions from different European countries on the streets of Brussels.

We will use the opportunity to raise our voice together and speak out aloud for the respect of teachers’ rights, strong social dialogue and decent working conditions in education.
