On 14-15 October 2019, the ETUCE and EFEE joint closing conference of the ESSDE project on the Effective Integration of Migrants and Refugees took place in Brussels, Belgium. The conference successfully wrapped up the two years project that aimed on developing a common strategy on the integration of newly arrived migrants and refugees. Around 100 representatives from member organisations of ETUCE and EFEE gathered to bring together the results of the previous case studies and training seminars. During the conference working groups discussed the results of the previous events and finalised a draft version of Joint Guidelines on this topic. Professor Bunar contributed to the discussion by presenting the results of his research. Moreover, the idea of a Quality Framework for an Effective Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees in Education was introduced and positively received. The wish to include also the wider public into the project was shown during the public hearing on 15 October. Representatives of different civil society organisations took part in a panel discussion. In the course of the public hearing also the film documentary of the project was presented. Overall, the final conference and the hearing offered an appropriate framework for the conclusion of the project and further helped to strengthen the understanding as well as cooperation between the European Social Partners in Education.
