Make teaching attractive!

European Week of Teachers

2-6 October 2023

On 15 May 2023, at the launch event of the campaign to promote the attractiveness of the teaching profession, ETUCE representing more than 11 million teachers in Europe invited its member organisations, education trade unions, for a coordinated week of action during the European Week of Teachers in October 2023 to raise awareness of the value of the teaching profession.

From 2 to 6 October 2023, the European Week of Teachers will call all stakeholders at national and European level to shed light on the vital role teachers, trainers, academics and other education personnel play in equipping future generations with the competences and skills they need for their future.

The main topic is:

Value, respect and empower the teaching profession!

ETUCE member organisations are encouraged to join the European Week of Teachers by organising.

  • in-person or virtual events (e.g. round table discussion, flashmob, living library etc.)
  • creating social media or video campaigns (e.g. testimonials or memes)
  • appearing in the local media (e.g. magazine articles, TV appearances, advertisements etc.)
  • or by any other means that they seem fit to promote the common cause.

The central programme of the European Week of Teachers will take place in Brussels on 5 October, World Teacher Day.

All activities of member organisation visible on social media channels will be shared / retweeted by ETUCE on Facebook and/or Twitter during the week of actions. To help ETUCE share your content, please use the hashtag #EWT2023 consistently and tag @ETUCE_CSEE.

After the European Week of Teachers, member organisations are invited to create one summary article on their website or one summary post on social media illustrated with a couple of photos and to send the link of the page or post with a short English, French or Russian summary to ETUCE by 30 October 2023 via the web-based form created for this purpose.

With the information provided ETUCE will be able to give more visibility at European level to member organisations’ initiatives and for the European Week of Teachers.
